Clone Records reveal distribution deal with Nina Kraviz label ended over “silence on Russia”.
Clone Records has published a statement to clarify why the company ended its agreement with Nina Kraviz and her label Trip Recordings.
Writing on Instagram, the company said: “We choose to be open and transparent on our decision, therefore we’ve made the statement public to clarify why Clone Distribution ended its agreement with Nina Kraviz and Trip Recordings.”
The statement begins: “For the past few weeks, we’ve been receiving inquiries on a daily basis, asking why Clone Distribution has ended its collaboration with Trip Recordings and Nina Kraviz. Even Time Magazine asked whether we’d have an official statement about it.”
The statement describes the actions of Kraviz which factored into the end of the deal, mostly describing her silence on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
“While many festivals and clubs conveniently accept her right to remain silent, we in our opinion have all the reasons to end the collaboration,” it reads.
Clone Records decision to end the distribution of Nina Kraviz’s releases and further releases from Trip Recordings was mentioned in a TIME article published late last week.
